RESTORATION, ENERGY UPGRADE, AND MUSEUM SETTING OF THE PREFECT’S HOUSE AT THE BOTANICAL GARDEN OF PADOVA
The LAe studio oversaw the restoration, energy requalification, and museum setting to accommodate the headquarters of the New Herbarium Museum at the Botanical Garden. It houses materials from the ancient Pinali Library of the Faculty of Medicine and publicly exhibits a portion of the sheets from the Botanical Garden’s Herbarium.
Additionally, Dr. Maggioni’s Apothecary–a very special legacy from the 19th century–has finally found its place. This is in line with the Botanical Garden‘s original concept, born in 1545 upon Francesco Bonafede’s request that the gardens be accompanied by a pharmacy.
After almost 500 years, Bonafede’s dream project has been fulfilled, and not only symbolically.
